Swim Lessons

The Boar's Head Sports Club offers a variety of swim lessons to meet your child's needs.  We offer Group, Parent-Tot, and Private and Semi-Private lessons throughout the aquatics season.  Group lessons are scheduled over four individual sessions and private/semi-private lessons are arranged at your convenience.

Group Lessons

Group lessons are structured for a variety of skill levels.  Below are the skill development goals for each level.  Class sessions run Monday through Friday for two consecutive weeks, with each lesson lasting 30 minutes.  Morning lessons are held from 10:00 am - 12:30 pm, with afternoon classes scheduled to run from 6:00 pm - 7:15 pm.

Tots will:

  • Enter the water
  • Get their faces wet
  • Learn to float face-up and face-down with assistance
  • Kick

Youngsters will begin to build their primary skills to:

  • Float unassisted
  • Perform vertical position recovery
  • Glide without support
  • Kick
  • Learn the front and back crawl

Children will:

  • Improve front and back crawl skills
  • Begin to learn how to tread water
  • Learn the backstroke
  • Learn to dive from the side of the pool

Rainy Days
Safety training sessions will be conducted in the Sports Club on rainy and or cold days. Pro-rated refunds are available before the 3rd swim lesson. Please note that it may be necessary to schedule make-up swim lessons on Saturday at 11:00 am.

Parent-Tot Lessons

This special parent/child together time is designed to help small children get comfortable with the water. This class is geared especially to children between the ages of 1 and 3.  The class is offered in either a 6 session format or 2 session format.  A minimum of 4 adult/child pairs is required to conduct the Parent-Tot Program.

Private and Semi-Private Lessons

Individualized attention for your child that meets your schedule is the hallmark of a private lesson.   Children and adults who want to learn to swim or improve their strokes will benefit from one-on-one instruction!  Private lessons are a great way to improve stroke technique and mechanics for swim team or simply for fitness.  Semi-private lessons are great for your child and a friend to learn together!  We will work with you and your child to match the right instructor to meet your needs.
